A.A. Early Childhood Education Emphasis
North Florida College’s A.A. Degree with an Early Childhood Education emphasis provides students with a strong foundation in general education while focusing on courses relevant to child development and education. This pathway is ideal for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related teaching field.
Through this emphasis, students gain insight into educational theory, classroom practices, and the developmental needs of young children. Upon completion, students will be well-prepared to enter upper-division teacher preparation programs within Florida’s State University System through the state’s 2+2 transfer pathway.
The following information may be used as a guide to assist students in scheduling courses and planning for graduation. The sample schedule below is an ideal sample for a full-time, college ready student. This sample does not take into account a student’s need for developmental courses or work requirements. This progression reflects success at each attempted course. Part-time students who typically build courses around work or family obligations can use this information to map out a degree plan for a longer period of time. While this is a general guide, students should meet regularly with an academic advisor to discuss best course options.
